PROBLEM STATEMENT

Spotify users often want to replay specific song or podcast sections like a chorus, instrumental solo, or beat drop and maybe some interesting and important notes from the podcast but currently they must manually rewind or use external tools, disrupting their experience. This lack of control limits engagement, especially for musicians, dancers, and listeners who enjoy looping moments for practice or enjoyment.

Is it only me or other users seekers also face this similar issue?

From a business lens, why will Spotify do this?

I found out something interesting on their investors page. Attached below is the screenshot of that!

Spotify’s mission is to unlock the potential of human creativity by giving a million creative artists the opportunity to live off their art and billions of fans the opportunity to enjoy and be inspired by it.

Designing the Trim and loop feature will be an extension to the company’s mission as it might increase the value delivered to the seekers, while enabling them to enjoy the content delivered that they love to full extent and potentially increasing Spotify’s user engagement, retention and share in the audio streaming market.
